Pilates for Golfers
Many
golfers try to watch the pros and swing just like they do. You won't be
able to do that if your body can't rotate like theirs. By incorporating
Pilates into your routine, you can make corrections to your body,
strengthen your core, increase rotation, flexibility, build stability
in the pelvis and shoulder girdles, and experience balancing both sides
of the body which will allow you to hit it farther, straighter and more
accurately. Elastic energy
is stored in a stretched muscle. Good flexibility at shoulders, hips
and spine will provide more power because the club will act through a
greater range of motion. Pilates naturally builds long, lean muscles
that are ideal for generating the kind of power needed for long
straight drives. Pilates also will teach you about movement from the
center of the body and using many muscles of your body together.
Pilates is not just about strength, is it also about integrating your
mind with your movement, just like golf.
